The Diary of an Austin A-List Awards Attendee

The Austin Chamber’s A-List awards are an annual celebration of the spirit of entrepreneurship that makes the city of Austin so great and keeps the traffic so horrible. Last night, members of our community were recognized for their commitment to innovation, entrepreneurial drive and, arguably most importantly, their love for Austin.

Established finance giants, startups high off a round of funding, venture capitalists and popcorn enthusiasts alike joined together at the historic Moody Theatre to celebrate what makes ATX so special: our differences. The evening began with mingling at a networking reception hosted by Deloitte, where guests were invited to share ideas, exchange information and thrive off of human relationships and connections.

We were then ushered to the ceremony where companies of all sizes gathered to honor standouts in 4 categories: Startup, Mid-Stage, Scale and Culture. With the awards announcements and two captivating speeches from Laura Kilcrease, CEO of Alberta Innovates and Mellie Price, CIO of SoftMatch, the audience was humming with energy and excitement.

The winners ranged from global brand-to-watch Bumble, to emerging disruptors SourceDay and Babson Diagnostics, to our very own partner and construction finance platform, Rabbet. As each nominee-turned-recipient cheered and ascended the steps to accept their award, a video from Castleview Productions told the story of the company through its local executives. We were fascinated to hear the background of companies we know well, as well as some fresh faces we were excited to get to know.

After the event, congratulations were in order, so attendees moved to the patio for more mingling and cocktails to celebrate everyone’s achievements. We were thrilled to be a supporting sponsor at the 2019 event, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s A-List awards!
