PLNAR
A NEW DIMENSION FOR AUGMENTED REALITY: 10,000+ post-launch downloads, 25 top-tier placements, 1 sustained communications campaign
Challenge
Launch PLNAR alongside Apple iOS11 to generate momentum and drive downloads across PLNAR’s B2B and B2C target audiences.
Solution
To fully support the PLNAR’s short- and long-term objectives, Red Fan divided media relations into two parts. The first, consumer-focused strategy capitalized on existing media and consumer hype around augmented reality and Apple’s ARKit. During the launch of iOS11, Red Fan relied on team members in Austin and San Diego to secure dozens of hits in tech publications and outlets with a heavy focus on Apple-based products and apps. The second media relations phase targeted B2B audiences through trade publications.
- Built an owned strategy to provide a steady stream of content catered to PLNAR’s several B2B audiences.
- Created and produced a video demonstrating PLNAR’s dimensioning capabilities on the brand’s website and in related marketing efforts.
- Supported trade show attendance with sales and marketing collateral demonstrating PLNAR’s value proposition for B2B audiences.
Red Fan efforts garnered a healthy mix of consumer tech placements and industry-specific stories and content, including hits in The New York Times, Forbes, TechRepublic, VentureBeat, Popular Mechanics, Refinery29, New York Magazine, Computerworld, Inman, Bisnow, Floor Covering Weekly and many more. PLNAR saw 10,000 downloads from the App Store in the first week alone, with 200,000 downloads and 40,000 active projects between September 2017 and January 2018.
