Lemonade Day Austin, a program of the Entrepreneurs Foundation, empowers Austin-area youth to run their first business in the form of a lemonade stand. The program consists of two key events, the Best Tasting Lemonade Contest and Lemonade Day.
Lemonade Day Austin came to Red Fan in 2015 and 2016 in search of fresh ideas to build additional awareness and create buzz around both the Best Tasting Contest and Lemonade Day.
Red Fan was tasked with securing local celebrity judges for the Best Tasting Contest that exemplified entrepreneurship as well as aiding in sponsorship outreach. In 2015, Red Fan secured notable members of the media as well as local entrepreneurs as judges, including Sara Hickman, Peter Li, Karen Morgan, Jan Triplett and William Jackson—former board member of the Austin Child Guidance Center and current business consultant at Seton Health Alliance—who also served as the event’s emcee.
In an effort to amplify the Lemonade Day Austin brand, Red Fan also coordinated with local production company ProductionFor for the creation of a marketing video. Red Fan facilitated video production during Lemonade Day Austin and coordinated with the event photographer throughout the day.
Moving into 2016 and building upon the previous year’s momentum, Red Fan secured another panel of celebrity judges for the Best Tasting Lemonade Contest including Amy Simmons, Jane Ko, Martin Berson, Sara Hickman and host of KXAN’s Studio512 Amanda Tatom, who also emceed the event.
After a successful Lemonade Day following the Best Tasting Contest, the client was pleased to report that registrants increased by 400% over the previous year, bringing the total number of children involved in Lemonade Day to over 115,000 since 2009.
Press coverage across 2015 and 2016 included articles in Community Impact, The Austin Business Journal, the Austin American-Statesman and The Austinot, among others. Red Fan also secured TV segments and coverage across all five major stations in the Austin area.
