Modern Market: Break into Austin

Modern Market is a fast-casual farm-fresh eatery with roots in Colorado. Like many Colorado restaurants, Modern Market saw a valuable opportunity to break into the Austin market, which places similar value on farm-to-table, locally sourced and healthy ingredients and menus.

With our deep connections to local media and the blogger community, we were able to secure a plethora of coverage across channels, ensuring Austin foodies and casual diners knew about Modern Market well before it held its grand opening in the Arboretum.

Red Fan earned Modern Market a TV spot on KEYE’s “We are Austin” and secured coverage in the city’s flagship newspaper, the Austin American-Statesman, as well as the Austin Business Journal, Austin Chronicle, Austin Food Magazine, Austin Fit, Do512 and more.

We also secured multiple pieces tracking Modern Market’s unique storylines in other print and digital media, including:

  • A piece in Eater Austin on Modern Market’s diet-friendly menu
  • A real estate roundup highlighting Modern Market’s space
  • A CultureMap story showcasing Modern Market’s farm-fresh and seasonal ingredients

Red Fan held a blogger event at Modern Market, which resulted in dozens of influential social media posts about Modern Market’s opening and offering.

As firm believers in a boots-on-the-ground approach when helping companies enter the Austin market, we also coordinated and delivered food to local radio, TV and print offices to give them a sense of the type and style of fare Modern Market offers.

Red Fan also introduced Modern Market to several local organizations to ensure a sustainable transition into the Austin market, including:

  • Austin Gives, an organization that encourages businesses to give back to the community in the form of monetary donations, time or other services
  • Farmgrass, which raises critical health care funds for Central Texas farmers, a perfect connection for Modern Marker’s “source locally” mentality
