ACL Red Fan

If Red Fan Hosted Their Own Music Festival

The Austin City Limits Festival (ACL) is always an exciting time in Austin. Now that the festival has extended to a two-weekend schedule, we are all getting a double dose of live-music fun. ACL sparked some conversation around the Red Fan office about what bands and artists (current and past) the team would like to see live in concert. So, we decided to create our own line-ups to share RF’s musical dreams with the world.

Please enjoy the stage listing for The 2014 Red Fan Musical Festival! Drum roll please…

Alicia’s Party Stage

Alicia would start her stage off with the King of Rock & Roll himself, Elvis Presley. Meghan Trainer would follow him with her 50’s contemporary, happy beats. Next up would be Steelers Wheel to play the best songs of the ages, “Stuck in the Middle With You”. Depeche Mode would follow with a nice nostalgia trip for Alicia reminding her of her first concert ever and she would end the night with a bang from a performance from DeadMau5.

Stephanie’s Collection of Classic Rock

Stephanie would want to hop into a DeLorean with Doc Brown for the selection of her stage. She would start the day off with a prime performance from legendary singer-songwriter, James Taylor. Next up would be a showing from a little-known band that goes by the name of Led Zeppelin. Next up: The King of Pop followed by an appearance from one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Jimi Hendrix. Stephanie would end her stage with a classic performance from the Rolling Stones in their prime.

Kyle’s Punky-Funky Stage

For my stage, I decided I would like to start off with a performance from Neutral Milk Hotel after the release of their album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea in 1998. Next, a prime Sonic Youth and then a vintage performance from The Smiths would appear. The night would end with an appearance from Notorious B.I.G. and Kanye West.

Nina’s Knight Stage

Nina’s stage would be a non-stop day of entertainment from the knighted Elton John. She wouldn’t want to miss a single moment of his performance and would be eager to see which glasses he would rock the stage with. Nina’s stage would finish the night with a surprise reunion performance from the Spice Girls.

Chloe’s Variety Stage

Chloe would feature one of the stages with the most diverse selection of artists and kick it off with the American rock band Incubus. Country singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert would play the “Fastest Girl in Town” and Eli Young Band might make an appearance. The lineup would feature the funky music of Sublime and the thoughtful strums of Ed Sheeran. Two Door Cinema Club’s fun, poppy music would take over the stage and then the day would end with an epic performance from Beyoncé.

Katie’s Dance-All-Day Stage

Katie would start the day with a performance from the famous rock of The Black Keys. Next up would be Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and an appearance from The National halfway through the day. Following this would be three-hour block of dancing with Daft Punk and last, but not least, by Outkast.

Kathleen’s Stage of Legendary Musicians

Duke Ellington would begin the day on Kathleen’s stage with his timeless and inspiring music. The Beatles would follow Duke so she could see what they were like in their early days. Next up would be David Bowie, taking a break during his Ziggy Stardust tour to visit Red Fan’s 2014 Music Festival. Following Bowie would be Bob Marley and the Wailers and Beethoven would finish the night, playing his first public concert ever.

Most of us got pretty ambitious with our concert lineups, and it was really a great way to bring the office together (perhaps with a little debating) by sharing our very diverse taste in music.

We hope that everyone enjoyed this sneak peek of what music might be playing at Red Fan’s own music festival--and here’s to a good time for those attending ACL weekend #2!
