How to create an Instagram-worthy event

Life moments are all the rage these days. Where parties with simple announcements, bland appetizers and cocktails used to suffice, today, you have to infuse creativity with Instagram-worthy vignettes to make your attendees the “who’s who” of event-goers.

The question is… how do you do this? Creating events that foster a feeling of exclusivity help socialites generate demand and attention for your client or product.

The following tips will help skyrocket your events…

First things first: know your client

This may seem like a no-brainer, but knowing your clients—their needs, values and goals—helps to shape your steps toward creating a tactical event, whether it’s educational or promotional. After strategically setting goals with your client, your brainstorming can be carefully curated to devise a media-worthy, must-attend event.

Location, location, location

Texas- or Austin-based clients have a unique edge to out-of-towners. Visitors attending events in the capital city are hungry for a Texas style party. We’re talking classic “Keep Austin Weird” served up with a plate of BBQ, pickles, cold beer and hot sauce. Add breakfast tacos for morning events. Venues with a solid live music vibe are key and will feel more authentic to visitors.

Invitation

After determining dates, details and drinks, it’s time to craft the perfect party invitation. There are many online companies that offer great services for organizing your guest list, RSVP’s, tickets and general event information. Be sure to map your invitation’s style to the image your client is trying to convey: Is this a panel of distinguished thought leaders? I recommend Paperless Post. Creativity through the end

As the RSVPs start to roll in, make sure you have your guests’ form of ID ready. This is a great opportunity to show your creative side. We’ve seen everything from backstage passes made with fancy, silk ribbons to more formal, laminated lanyard badges. Knowing your audience is key here.

Offer a place to crash

Make sure you have hotels nearby and see if hotels will offer discounts if all the guests stay there—this is a nice offering. Also, know the neighborhood and share your favorite places to eat, coffee shops with Wifi or shop for authentic Austin goodies. This is always something that guests appreciate and enjoy knowing the inside scoop of the local fare.
