Editor's Picks: April's best apps, restaurants and products

Last month, the Red Fan team started a monthly newsletter, Fan Features, that highlights our newest clients, showcases our latest blogs and curates the best recommendations for you to try, test and enjoy. Here are our editor's picks for April.

1) App:

Canva provides insanely fantastic ways to improve your business and personal social media content without having to be a graphic design wiz.

2 & 3) Restaurant:

Must I pick? If it’s farm-to-table and splendidly fabulous I’m hooked. In Austin, Eden East and Dai Dui have been my two favorite spots lately. I'm a big fan of Eden East as it's a foodie haven and the menu is superb. This is a good weather destination as it’s outside, surrounded by Springdale Farm and is BYOB, so we love to craft our own wine list to map to the menu.

Dai Dui is for the carnivore, yet my last meal there kicked off with oysters and artichokes, followed by a pork dish that was to die for. When it’s completed, the patio seating will be a big win to fit the crowds that flock to this eatery.

4) Article:

The art of telling your company story and pitching it to investors, media, analysts and employees needs to be a key skill for any CEO and their CMO. This article on the only 10 slides you need to pitch your business is one we recommend regularly.

5) Service:

The Skimm is a daily newsletter that really hits the news that I want to be in the know of, quickly. It’s a must-read with my coffee each morning before I leave the house.

6) Book:

Guy Kawasaki's and Peg Fitzpatrick’s new book, “The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users,” as it finely and plainly outlines proven tools and preferences. It's like having a great brainstorm with friends in the industry who have been kicking the tires and tackling so many ways to create profitable and successful social media strategies. It was enjoyable to read, reinforced my beliefs, gave me new ideas and provided great tool and content strategy suggestions that have been added to my brainstorming with my team and my clients.

7 & 8) Product:

Spring is here and summer is coming! On the fitness front, I’m awaiting my fitness wristband from Atlas Wearables and on the stay-cool-and-fresh front, I’ve secured my Yeti soft-carry cooler for wine outings.

9) Quote:

I’m a big believer of keeping on your toes, so a favorite quote of mine is: “Yesterday’s home runs don’t win today’s games.” – Babe Ruth
