Austin Heart of Business Summit: Hosting a panel on doing good and showcasing it in your community

We take great pride in our hometown of Austin, Texas. The community is unlike any other and giving back is in our DNA. It was only natural for us to become partners with Austin Gives in 2013. We surround ourselves with like-minded companies to strengthen each other with direct results to our community. This year, Austin Gives launched The Heart of Business Summit for HR directors, marketing and communications teams, nonprofit leaders and CEOs to learn about the changing landscape of business and the need for community engagement in your business model.

The half-day summit included keynote speeches from Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott on her vision and commitment to “Texanthropy” and Dr. Art Markman and Dr. Bob Duke, hosts of KUT podcast series “Two Guys on Your Head’ about the psychological benefits of philanthropy and breakout sessions to dive deeper into the benefits and best practices of business and nonprofit partnerships.

Our founder and president, Kathleen Lucente, hosted the afternoon panel “Recognition: Telling your story. What works what doesn’t!,” where experts including CBS We Are Austin's Taylor Ellison, Mindecology’s Darren Drewitz and RecognizeGood’s Joel Coffman discussed how to showcase philanthropic partnerships and events.

The Heart of Business Summit’s focus to inspire, educate and engage both businesses and nonprofit leaders to build meaningful and impactful partnerships is just one of the events Austin Gives hosts throughout the year.
